Sustainable health systems to ensure better health for all
Vision, Mission, and Goals
Our vision: "Sustainable health systems to ensure better health for all."
Our mission: "Working in equitable partnerships globally to support and strengthen public health institutions and systems."
At the heart of our mission is the belief that global health challenges can be overcome through equitable partnerships.
Through collaborative equal partnerships, rigorous implementation research, and effective implementation strategies, we aim to fortify public health institutions and systems with the necessary knowledge, tools, and practices for sustainable improvement and equitable healthcare access. Our commitment extends to contributing to the UN Sustainable Development Goals for 2030, with a focus on promoting good health and well-being by strengthening primary healthcare and national health systems with our partners.
Our strategic documents:
Our Approach
We aim to enhance health systems by integrating research and implementation practice, which together provide evidence-based foundations and support informed political decision-making. Our efforts encompass a wide range of activities, including research (with a focus on implementation research), twinning activities, institutionalization of public health functions, organizational development, evidence synthesis, knowledge dissemination, technical collaboration, and cooperation coordination.
Our focus is on four key areas:
- Digital Health
- Evidence-Informed Decision Making
- Non-communicable Diseases, including Mental Health
- Climate and Health
Funding
We receive developmental aid support from the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD). Projects are also supported by the Ministry of Health and Care Services. Our research initiatives are funded by competitive research grants from sources like the Norwegian Research Council and the EU.

The Global Health Cluster boasts a multidisciplinary team engaged in research and practical implementation efforts.
Our partners include sister public health institutions, universities, research organizations, and health ministries from collaborating countries, alongside regional and global organizations.
