Information in English about ticks and tick-borne diseases

TBE is caused by infection of the central nervous system with the tick-borne encephalitis virus. The virus is transmitted by tick bites.

This project will investigate the occurrence of chronic Lyme borreliosis, describe the characteristic of this condition, and look for possible tick-transferred infectious agents.

The sheep tick (Ixodes ricinus) is considered the main transmitter of infection among bloodsucking insects in Northern Europe. If you are bitten, you should remove the tick within a day.

Capacity- and network-building on vector-borne diseases in the Barents region is needed due to microclimatic changes that may influence the northern distribution of ticks and mosquitoes.

Diseases spread by tick bites are an increasing problem in Norway. Lyme borreliosis and tick-borne encephalitis (TBE) are the most common, but other diseases can also be spread.

We were asked to perform a systematic literature search followed by an overview of available research on laboratory diagnosis and co-infections of tick-borne diseases.
