Health and quality of life

Every year, many Norwegians receive a cancer diagnosis. Now we want to learn more about how cancer affects quality of life and perceived health in those affected.
All cancer patients receive some form of treatment, whether it is surgery and/or radiation therapy, chemotherapy, or palliative care. Although these treatments can improve survival or quality of life, they can also lead to harmful complications that affect life after treatment.
We aim to gain a better understanding of the extent and impact of such late effects, so that treatment and cancer care can become even better and more precise.
Population Surveys
Through the population-based health survey, the health and quality of life for people both with and without cancer will be mapped. This way, we gain knowledge about how common the various late effects are, and who is affected, for example depending on which treatments they have received.
It can be extremely challenging to live with late effects after cancer treatment, and it is important for this patient group that we gain an overview of the burden and duration of late effects and how they impact quality of life. In this way, treatment and follow-up can become even better over time.
