We conducted a systematic literature search, a method that provides an overview of existing literature on a specific question. The purpose of this product is to present the existing research without conducting our own analyses or interpretations of the results.
Key message
For most people, COVID-19 causes mild and transient illness, but some individuals experience lingering symptoms that take time to resolve. The Norwegian Institute of Public Health (NIPH) has previously published a comprehensive overview of the risk of long-term effects after COVID-19, but due to many studies available, the inclusion criteria in that particular overview were quite stringent, resulting in the exclusion of many Norwegian studies. To complement the findings in the previously published overview, NIPH is also seeking an updated overview of studies on long-term effects after COVID-19 in the Norwegian population.
We conducted a systematic literature search, a method that provides an overview of existing literature on a specific question. The purpose of this product is to present the existing research without conducting our own analyses or interpretations of the results.
Through our systematic literature search, we identified 47 Norwegian studies that examined and reported various aspects related to long-term effects after covid-19 or other health consequences of COVID-19.
