Documentation to inform guideline for mother and child health centres
Report
|Updated
The Norwegian Directorate of Health are producing guidelines for mother and child health centres. We have, together with the guideline group, searched for, assessed and graded available systematic reviews about home visits and parent education/guidance/counselling or information that were considered relevant for this version of the guideline.
Key message
For most of the cases here, parent guidance was education, often handover of written material, sometimes also practical guidance. Many times several components were involved, and often, the intervention was poorly described.
We have evaluated available documentation regarding the effect of:
- Home visits in the early post partum period
- One compared with several visits
- Post natal parent guidance for optimizing infant general health and safety
- Education by written information about sleep
- Guidance and education by 45 minutes consultation about sleep
- Education about infant behaviour
- Education about infant general health
- Guidance about infant safety
- Smokefree homes in pregnancy and the neonatal period
- Guidance and education about smokefree homes
- Education plus written information about smokefree homes
- Individually tailored programmes for smokefree homes
- Motivating interview compared with self-help material for smokefree homes
- Interventions to improve motor development
- Education to improve motor development
