The Norwegian Knowledge Centre for the Health Services was commissioned by the Directorate of Health (Helsedirektoratet) to evaluate the Norwegian blood donor questionnaire. The questionnaire was evaluated using both qualitative and quantitative methods. The qualitative method used was cognitive interviews with blood donors. The quantitative method was a user survey.
The results from the cognitive interviews indicate that some questions in the questionnaire are not understood as intended, hence there are several areas of improvement. The results from the user survey were more positive, but these results are less emphasized here due to methodological reasons.
The main findings from this project indicate that some adjustments of the questionnaire are needed. A follow-up of this survey to develop the questionnaire is recommended. It is important that changes are tested through cognitive interviews among blood donors before the changes are implemented.
