The project is designed to promote healthy diets, physical activity and reduce exposure to air pollution in a clean and supportive urban environment. The overall objective of the ENABLE is to equitably implement context-adapted, evidence-based interventions to promote positive behaviour change.
The project will take place in urban communities in four cities in Ethiopia: Addis Ababa, Adama, Harar, and Jimma.
Legal basis and approval of the project
The project has submitted and been approved for the formative study phase. This was submitted to the EPHI IRB (EPHI-IRB-573-2024) with approval from 5 October 2024 to 4 October 2025. The team also submitted to the REK SørOst 656164 which confirmed the study outside of their mandate.
In the implementation phase, the project will submit an application for approval to the Regional Committees for Medical and Health Research Ethics (REK SørØst) and other required ethical processes in participating countries (i.e., Norway and Ethiopia). In addition, a Data Protection Impact Assessment (DPIA) will be conducted prior to the start of the trial.
