The purpose of this pilot study is to develop, test, and evaluate a model for collecting key risk factors for non-communicable diseases—such as blood pressure, diabetes/high blood sugar, cholesterol and other blood lipids, as well as measures of overweight and obesity—within primary health care.

Summary

This is a pilot study that is part of the Joint Action for the Prevention of Non-Communicable Diseases (JA PreventNCD) project, which is a European governmental collaboration led by the Norwegian Directorate of Health and the Norwegian Institute of Public Health. The pilot is included in a work package that aims to contribute knowledge on monitoring risk factors for non-communicable diseases in the population. More information: https://www.fhi.no/en/nc/studies/measurements-risk-factors-for-non-communicable-diseases-in-primary-health-care/ The purpose of this pilot study is to develop, test, and evaluate a model for collecting key risk factors for non-communicable diseases—such as blood pressure, diabetes/high blood sugar, cholesterol and other blood lipids, as well as measures of overweight and obesity—within primary health care. The study is conducted only in Norway, and approximately 15 general practitioners from across the country will be recruited via the general practice research network, PraksisNett. Participants aged between 18 and 70 years (n=300) will be randomly selected from the GPs’ patient lists.
