When will I receive invitation for a mammogram?

BreastScreen Norway invites women aged 50 to 69 to have a mammogram every two years. An invitation with time and place of the mammogram is automatically sent to women who are due. Participation is voluntary. Age at first invitation may vary from 48 to 53.

The table only applies for women invited for the first time. Women previously invited will receive a new invitation after about two years.

Why does age of the first invitation vary?
You may receive your first invitation between 48 and 53 years of age, depending on where you live. Age at first invitation varies because two new birth cohorts are included in the program every other year, and the invitations must be distributed over a two-year period. In addition, there is a variation between counties in which birth cohorts they invite.
All women in the target group receive ten invitations in total. This means that those who enter the program at a later age, consequently exit the program at a later age.

Do you want to stop or resume invitations?
You can stop or resume invitations if you are in the target group of the program. Participating in BreastScreen Norway is voluntary.
