More districts become red in Finland

This week, only travellers from three districts in Finland are exempt from quarantine upon arrival in Norway if the Government follows NIPH’s recommendations about entry quarantine. If the recommendations are accepted, the changes will take effect from Saturday 5th December 2020 at 00.00 a.m.

Go to the home pageOn behalf of the Government, the Norwegian Institute of Public Health prepares a report every week about which countries meet certain criteria for exemption from the quarantine duty when entering Norway, which countries do not meet the criteria, and which countries have insufficient data for assessment.
Districts in Finland
If the Government follows these recommendations, only Itä-Savo Hospital District, Lappi Hospital District and Åland in Finland will not require quarantine upon arrival in Norway. The NIPH recommends introducing entry quarantine for travellers from the following districts from Saturday 5th December 2020 at 00.00 a.m.:
- Central Ostrobothnia HD (61.8 per 100,000 inhabitants in weeks 47 and 48 combined and 1.7 % proportion of positive test results among those tested).
- Kainuu HD (33.3 per 100,000 inhabitants in weeks 47 og 48 combined and 0.9 % proportion of positive test results among those tested).
- Kanta-Häme HD (39.1 per 100,000 inhabitants in weeks 47 and 48 combined and 1.6 % proportion of positive test results among those tested).
- Pohjois-Savo HD (32.8 per 100,000 inhabitants in weeks 47 and 48 combined and 1.0 % proportion of positive test results among those tested).
- Satakunta HD (39.3 per 100,000 inhabitants in weeks 47 and 48 combined and 1.2 % proportion of positive test results among those tested).
- South Karelia HD (29.9 per 100,000 inhabitants in weeks 47 and 48 combined and 1.6 % proportion of positive test results among those tested).
- South Ostrobothnia HD (59.0 per 100,000 inhabitants in weeks 47 and 48 combined and 1.9 % proportion of positive test results among those tested).
Cross-border workers
NIPH recommends that cross-border workers from the following countries and regions can be exempt from entry quarantine (cf. COVID-19 regulations § 6 c) from Saturday 5th December 2020 at 00.00 a.m.:
- North Jutland (111.9 per 100,000 inhabitants in weeks 47 and 48 combined and 1.4 % proportion of positive test results among those tested). Previous restrictions and measures introduced in the region have now been lifted after a decline in infection rates and good results after having tested 176,337 (62.8%) of a total of 280,701 inhabitants in the seven most exposed municipalities.
