Tuberculosis, Blood Borne and Sexually Transmitted Infections
The Department of Tuberculosis, Blood and Sexual infection is responsible for surveillance, infection control guidance and research into sexually-transmitted infections, tuberculosis and blood-borne diseases.
In addition the department provides laboratory reference functions for viral hepatitis, gonococci, tuberculosis and other mycobacteria.
The department focuses on groups with a high risk of contracting these diseases. Among these groups are immigrants, people who inject drugs, men who have sex with men, and young people in general.
