Summary
The purpose of the project is to investigate the occurrence of the phenomenon called chronic Lyme borreliosis, describe the characteristic of this condition, and look for possible tick-transferred infectious agents in people who think they have the disease. In addition, genetic analyzes will be performed to investigate the possible disposition of the disease. (The project has previously been assessed by REK Health South East A, Case Number 2015 / 1353a.) Participants will be recruited through an open invitation send to 270.000 unorderly selected individuals over the age of 18 years from the National Registry and the Norwegian Tax Administration in Norway. These people will receive an SMS with information of the project and questions about participation. Those who think they have chronic borrelosis are asked to consent electronically. Those who think they do not have borreliose may disregard the request. Data to be collected will consist of answers from a questionnaire, and, results from blood sample analysis.
