Summary
The BE READY Partnership will implement the European Partnership for Pandemic Preparedness. It brings together more than 80 organisations from more than 27 countries, including funding agencies, public health institutes, clinical research networks, ministries and research infrastructures. The aim is to build a European research and innovation ecosystem that is well prepared for future infectious disease threats. The partnership will coordinate stakeholders around shared research priorities and launch joint transnational calls to close key research gaps across the full spectrum of pandemic preparedness — from basic science to diagnostics, treatments, vaccines and public health measures. This work supports Horizon Europe’s Cluster 1 Health goals. Building on existing European infrastructures and initiatives, BE READY will create and maintain an “ever-warm” research ecosystem that can rapidly respond to new health threats. This includes a continuously active, EU‑wide network of clinical research sites. In the long term, the partnership will strengthen the EU’s ability to prevent, detect and respond to infectious diseases, while enhancing Europe’s international role in pandemic preparedness research. The Norwegian Institute of Public Health is a key partner and will contribute especially to the development of “ever-warm” clinical research networks (WP12) and networks in public health, social sciences and humanities (WP11).
