This autumn, FHI is running the MENTOR survey on mental health among young people. If you’ve received an invitation by SMS, we would appreciate your participation! Everyone who takes part can be entered into a draw for one of 20 gift cards worth NOK 500.

Participate in the MENTOR survey

Did you get a text message inviting you to take part in the survey?

Then you have been randomly selected to take part in the MENTOR survey. We have invited 10,000 people between the ages of 16 and 20 to participate.

The more people who take part, the better the results. Your answers will help us understand more about mental health among young people. We hope you will join MENTOR.

The MENTOR survey is part of Mental Health Together (MENTOR), a European collaborative project on young people's mental health. The aim is to learn more about common mental health difficulties and what can affect young people's mental health. The same survey is conducted in several European countries, which makes it possible to compare results across countries.

What does taking part involve?

  • The survey is completely anonymous.
  • Taking part is voluntary.
  • You can skip questions you don't want to answer.
  • You can stop at any time without giving a reason.
  • The survey is available in Norwegian, English, and Ukrainian.
  • The questionnaire takes about 20–30 minutes.
  • You can take breaks along the way. Your answers are saved automatically until you press "Submit."
  • Everyone who takes part can be entered into the draw for one of 20 gift cards worth NOK 500.

Some questions touch on mental health and painful or traumatic experiences. If you would like to talk to someone afterwards, you will find information about support services at the bottom of the page.

What do we ask about in the survey?

  • Background and life situation
  • Health, feelings and quality of life
  • Painful or traumatic experiences
  • Media use and gaming

By taking part, you're helping us learn more about the mental health of young people in Norway. This is knowledge that can help us better prevent and reduce mental health problems.

Results will be published during the summer of 2027 at https://ja-mentor.eu.

What happens to the information about you?

Survey responses are collected and stored under strict rules for handling sensitive data. Only a few researchers are allowed to see this information. The survey is completely anonymous, meaning we don't ask for your name, address or anything else that could be used to identify you.

If you'd like to enter the gift card draw, you'll need to provide an email address or phone number, which we will use to contact the winners. This contact information is stored separately from your answers, so we can't know who answered what.

Taking part is voluntary

Taking part in MENTOR is voluntary. You can skip questions you don’t want to answer, and you can stop at any point, with no explanation needed.

Since the survey is anonymous, we cannot trace your answers back to you once you have submitted them. This also means it's not possible to withdraw, change or delete your answers after submission.
