The studies comprise the measurements of dioxins, polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) and hexabromocyclododecane (HBCD) in three types of food.

Organised by the Norwegian Institute of Public Health, the studies are open for academic, regulatory and commercial laboratories worldwide.

Objectives:

  • To assess interlaboratory consistency in results from analyses of dioxins, PCBs, PBDEs and HBCD in regular foods known to contribute to intake in the general public
  • To assess worldwide readiness and capacity in analysing dioxins and other halogenated POPs in food
  • To serve as a quality assurance instrument for the participating laboratories
