In August 2024, the World Health Organization (WHO) designated the Centre for Epidemic Interventions Research (CEIR) as WHO Collaborating Centre for effectiveness research on public health and social measures for health emergencies.

Terms of reference

The terms of reference for the Collaborating Centre are:

  1. To support the WHO’s efforts in strengthening the global evidence base on public health and social measures.
  2. To develop capacity building resources to promote the use of evidence on the effectiveness and consequences of public health and social measures in preparation for and during health emergencies.

Planned activities

The planned activities are:

  1. To develop study protocol templates to measure the effectiveness of and adherence to public health and social measures.
  2. To develop an implementation guide for the public health and social measures study protocol templates.
  3. To conduct evidence reviews on the effectiveness and health and socio-economic consequences of public health and social measures.
