The Norwegian Institute of Public Health (NIPH) wants to gain better knowledge about the population’s health and lifestyle habits. If you’ve received an invitation via SMS or email, we would appreciate your participation!

Good to know before you start  

  • You can answer the questionnaire on a mobile phone, tablet, or computer 
  • The questionnaire is available in Norwegian Bokmål, Nynorsk and English 
  • It takes about 20 minutes to complete the whole questionnaire 
  • As a thank you for taking part, you are entered into a draw for 30 gift cards worth NOK 1,000 
  • Because of the security level (level 4) required for login, guardians cannot answer on behalf of the person they are guardian for

About the survey  

The Norwegian Public Health Survey (NHUS) is an annual survey conducted by NIPH. We ask about your health, quality of life, mental health problems, physical activity and diet, and some background information. These data help to inform public health efforts and research. 

This year, the survey also includes three thematic modules on 1) health and work, active ageing, 2) women’s and men’s health, life experiences and changes in lifestyle, and 3) sexual health. You will be randomly assigned one of the modules, so you will only answer some of these topics. 

The results are published in a way that ensures no individuals can be identified. We use your information in accordance with data protection regulations. 

Why your answers matter 

By taking part, you contribute knowledge about how people are doing in different parts of Norway and in different population groups. Your answers give us a better understanding of how people your age, in your area and in similar life situations are doing. This knowledge is used to understand challenges and prioritise measures where the needs are greatest.

Who can participate?  

To take part, you must have received an invitation by SMS or email. We have randomly selected and sent invitations to around 100,000 people living in Norway. 

Why were you invited?  

You were randomly selected from the National Population Register. NIPH retrieved your contact information from the Contact and Reservation Register.
