The Norwegian Institute of Public Health (NIPH/FHI) conducted a national public health survey this autumn and has gained valuable knowledge about the population’s health and living habits.
The Norwegian Public Health Survey is an annual questionnaire survey conducted by NIPH. In October, we invited approximately 100,000 inhabitants to respond to a digital questionnaire. The survey includes questions about health, quality of life, mental health issues, and living habits such as physical activity and diet, as well as some background information. In addition, we explore a number of selected topics in greater depth. This year’s selected topics were diet, respiratory infections, mental health, and use of health services.
This information is used to support public health efforts and for research. Results from the survey will be published before the summer of 2026.
Results will be published in a way that does not allow individuals to be identified. Participants’ information is used in accordance with data protection regulations.
Prize draw
As announced, participants could take part in a prize draw for gift cards. We have drawn 30 winners of gift cards from Huuray! worth NOK 1,000. The digital gift card will be sent directly to the winners by SMS.
The winners of the gift cards were randomly selected from participants across the country.
What happens next?
-
Data analysis: Work is now beginning on quality assurance and analysis of the survey responses. The data will be used for research and to provide a basis for effective public health measures in the county.
-
Reporting: The results will be presented in a separate report. The report will be published on fhi.no and will be available to residents, municipalities, county authorities, and other stakeholders working with public health. This report helps compare county-level data with national trends and the effects of health initiatives.
-
Use of the knowledge: Data from the The Norwegian Public Health Survey is used to monitor developments and trends in the population’s health, quality of life, mental health problems, and living habits, and to identify areas where prevention and targeted measures are needed. In addition to providing a better basis for preparedness, evaluation, and evidence-based public health policy, the data is also used in research.
Please follow our website for updates and to access the report when it is published. We look forward to developing increasingly effective public health measures based on the results.
