The Norwegian Prescribed Drug Registry (NorPD) is a national health registry with information on drugs dispensed by pharmacies from 2004.
The NorPD contains information about all drugs/medicines dispensed by pharmacies, based on a prescription or requisition. The registry has been collecting data from pharmacies since 2004 and contains information on drugs dispensed to both humans and animals. Pharmacies also supply medicines directly to institutions, based on a requisition (e.g. GP’s practices, hospitals and nursing homes).
The NorPD includes information about:
- The patient that received the dispensed drug (national identification number, date of birth, year and month of death and place of residency)
- The prescriber (health personal identification number, specialty, profession, gender and year of birth)
- The drug dispensation, e.g.:
- The dispensed medicinal product, including ATC-code, brand name, active substance and package size
- The amount dispensed: Number of dispensed packages and defined daily doses (DDD)
- The dispensing date
- The pharmacy the drug was dispensed from
