Here you will find information about advice and rules that apply when entering Norway.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs' global travel advice was repealed on 1 October 2021. However, both the prevalence of infection and local restrictions can change at short notice and there may be sudden updates and travel advice for individual countries. You should check the entry rules and status at your destination.

Advice if you are considering travel abroad

The COVID-19 certificate will be discontinued as of 1 July 2023 .

Measures and restrictions that can affect travellers are introduced in many countries, and you must also be prepared to answer questions about your health.

Check the advice from the local authorities at your destination and what is covered by travel insurance, including what applies if you become ill while travelling. Be aware that the advice can change at short notice.

Consider the following before travel:

  • Risk of being infected while travelling (destination, duration, contact with other people)
  • Risk of travel restrictions, curfews, quarantine or other measures in the country you are travelling to
  • Risk of capacity problems in the healthcare service at the destination if you become sick
  • Risk of lack of possibilities for return travel or medical repatriation

The general infection control advice is;

  • People who are sick should stay at home
  • Good hygiene
  • Good cough and sneezing etiquette
  • Follow the national guidelines for face mask use

Long-term stays

Students and other people who are staying in areas with widespread transmission over a longer period should follow the advice from the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, local health authorities and educational institutions/employers.
