The 15th Annual NorPEN Meeting
Event
|Updated
Theme: Strengthening our Nordic network for preparedness and impact.
About the Conference
Nordic PharmacoEpidemiological Network (NorPEN) is a network of research groups with the purpose of facilitating research within the field of pharmacoepidemiology in the Nordic countries (Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden). NorPEN organizes annual 2-3 days scientific meetings held in turns in each Nordic country. In November 2023, the Norwegian research groups at the Norwegian Institute of Public Health and University of Oslo will be hosting the 15th annual meeting. The theme of this year’s conference is: Strengthening our Nordic network for preparedness and impact. The meeting will be organized face-to-face. There will be no virtual participation.
NorPEN conferences are open to all researchers and other experts engaged or interested in pharmacoepidemiology, not just for research groups involved in NorPEN.

Pre-conference course (13:00-17:00)
The Target Trial Emulation framework: An introduction to causal inference concepts
Learning objectives: How to utilise the target trial emulation (TTE) framework to address the challenges from the use of real-world data (RWD).
Description: This is an introductory course for anyone wishing to understand how to implement comparative effectiveness research using real world data (RWD) when adopting the framework of target trial emulation (TTE). RWD are data on the everyday experiences of individuals that are collected through cohorts or administrative healthcare data from electronic health records. In this course we will describe the main sources of bias affecting RWD, describe how TTE can address some of them, and discuss its application in a computer practical (in Stata). Participants are expected to be familiar with basic epidemiologic concepts and regression models.
In-person participation is limited to those who have registered for the NorPEN meeting.
Online participation is open to all: Link to zoom meeting
