Summary
The Division of Health Services at the Norwegian Institute of Public Health (NIPH) has been commissioned by Vestre Viken Hospital Trust to conduct a systematic mapping review of research on long-term effects and adverse effects of treatment with antidepressants.
We will systematically map the existing research on long-term effects (and adverse effects) of antidepressants lasting for 6 months or longer for patients diagnosed with depression. We will perform a systematic literature search and present the results in categories for different diagnosis, type of antidepressant, type of comparison (placebo, standard treatment, other active treatment), type of outcome (effect and adverse effect), and for type of design (systematic review, randomized, non-randomized study or observational study with and without control group). One of the products of this review is an interactive, web-based evidence and gap map that illustrates the occurrence of systematic reviews and primary studies about different treatments for different target groups. The users of the online interactive evidence and gap map can chose a given combination of target group and treatment method.
