A  report has now been published (see link below). Based on the workshop, the report outlines the status of HTA in the Balkan region.  

The report states that the developmental status of HTA varies across the eight countries and areas represented at the workshop.  Facilitators of HTA that were identified include political will, networks, structured health systems, legal frameworks and relevant examples of gain. Barriers of HTA include political instability, small economies and human resources.

Recommendations for future action include mapping needs and options, strengthening collaborative initiatives, involving stakeholders and develop roadmaps towards transparent and sustainable HTA frameworks. All participants recognised the need for increased transparency.

The Norwegian Institute of Public Health was engaged by WHO Europe to co-facilitate the workshop, to conduct a survey and to write the report.
