Survival-based quality indicators for hospitals (project description) - project description

Summary

Survival 30 days after hospitalisation for acute myocardial infarction, stroke and hip fractures as well as overall survival is calculated based on patient administrative data, retrieved either from the Norwegian Patient Registry (NPR) or directly from hospitals via the FS system. Information on date of death and socio-demographic information was obtained from Statistics Norway (SSB).

Short and summarised results on a hospital level, on a hospital trust level and on a health region level, are forwarded annually to the Directorate of Health. The directorate contacts the hospitals and coordinates the publication of the results. When the results are published, the Knowledge Centre's internal memorandum including method description and sensitivity analyses are at the same time made available on our official website.
