We will summarize randomized controlled studies that investigate the effect of preventive use of support stockings for elderly with venous insufficiency and / or tendency to swelling of the legs.


Summary

Many elderly living at home use medical compression stockings to prevent venous insufficiency, deep venous thrombosis, painful legs and leg ulcers. However, assisting users with applying and removing compression stockings is a resource demanding task for the home based health services. furthermore, literature reviews question the effect of medical compression stockings for preventive purposes.
