Workers from abroad who, during the last 10 days before arriving in Norway, have resided in areas with a particularly high level of transmission will, from Saturday 31st October 00.00 a.m. no longer be exempt from entry quarantine upon arrival in Norway.

Workers from abroad who, during the last 10 days before arriving in Norway, have resided in areas with a particularly high level of transmission, shall not use the exemption from entry quarantine in the COVID-19 regulations § 6 c, i.e. they cannot use the arrangement with testing every three days. The main rule about entry quarantine will therefore apply to employees from these areas.

Areas are defined as having a particularly high level of transmission based on the following criteria:

  1. Necessary data are lacking or the test rate is equal to or less than 300 per 100,000 individuals, or,
  2. Test rate is over 300 per 100,000 individuals and
    a) the number of new cases is more than 150 per 100,000 in the last 14 days, or
    b) the number of new cases is 50 or more per 100,000 people in the last 14 days, and 4 % or more test positive.

Regions to which this will apply in the Nordic region are:

  • Capital (Denmark)
  • Central Jutland (Denmark)
  • North Jutland (Denmark)
  • Iceland
  • Stockholm (Sweden)
  • Uppsala (Sweden)
  • Östergötland (Sweden)
