Aim 3 – Develop and evaluate tools to support the use of research in decision-making in health crises, and improve critical health literacy in the population
Our third aim is to support the use of research evidence in decisions about epidemic interventions and other types of decisions.
Our third aim is to support the use of research evidence in decisions about epidemic interventions and other types of decisions.
Our work in this area includes:
- Designing and user testing tools for preparing evidence-based advice for policymakers
We coordinated the development of the GRADE Evidence to Decision frameworks and are adapting that tool to support evidence-based advice and evidence-informed decisions about epidemic interventions and other health policy decisions. More information about this work can be found here. - Evaluating the effects of interventions to strengthen critical health literacy skills
We coordinate the Informed health choices (IHC) Network – an international group that is developing, evaluating, and contextualizing resources for teaching critical thinking about health. More information about this work can be found here. - Designing and evaluating strategies for effectively communicating evidence-based information about the effects of interventions
In Collaboration with Dartmouth University and other colleagues, we are creating a laboratory for conducting online experiments to address important uncertainties about how to communicate evidence-based information about the effects of epidemic interventions and other interventions.
