Finland's linked administrative registries, covering population records, primary care visits, hospitalizations, and prescription data through pseudonymized identifiers, make large-scale randomized evaluation of health system interventions feasible.
This webinar presents a large-scale randomized controlled trial on the impacts of digital clinics offering chat-based primary care in Ostrobothnia, Finland, a district with 179,000 residents. Access to the digital clinic was randomized at the household level, with half of households in the district granted access.
By structuring this health systems intervention as a staggered experiment, the study offers a useful template for rigorously evaluating health systems and public health interventions at population scale.
