Project

Oral health care interventions for persons receiving community health- and care services and other prioritized groups. - Protocol for Overview of systematic reviews - project description

Published Updated

We will conduct an overview of systematic reviews in order to document effects of interventions by dental hygienists in persons receiving community health- and care services.

Summary

The Ministry of Health and Care Services has asked the Norwegian Institute of Public Health to summarize systematically effects of oral health care interventions for persons receiving community health- and care services and other prioritized groups. Daily oral health care is the responsibility of the municipality. The county authority, which is responsible for dental services, collaborates with the municipality in order to provide preventive services for persons receiving community health- and care services. This is mainly a task for dental hygienists. There is, however, little documentation about effects of interventions by dental hygienists in persons receiving community health- and care services.

We will conduct an overview of systematic reviews in order to document effects of interventions by dental hygienists in persons receiving community health- and care services. We will carry out a systematic literature search, based on specified inclusion criteria, in electronic databases. To reviewers will indepentently screen titles and abstracts from the literature search for relevance, assess publications in full text for inclusion, assess included reviews for risk of bias, and extract relevant data. The results will be summarized and presented in text and tables.
