Faglig bakgrunn

Jonathan Wörn is a researcher at the Centre of Fertility and Health, with a strong interest in issues related to family, work and health. He has a background in quantitative sociology and holds a PhD in Social Sciences from the University of Cologne (Germany). In his dissertation, he examined social determinants of cognitive functioning in old age.
His current work focuses especially on the interdependence between family members when it comes to their health and well-being. In line with that, his research includes studies of health consequences of starting and ending couple relationships, the consequences of losing work on the health of family members, and the consequences of living with a severely sick family member (parent, child, or sibling).
He is also interested in how determinants earlier in life (e.g., school performance) and major life events (e.g., marriage, spousal loss, the COVID-pandemic) affect well-being and family behavior in the short- and long-term.
